Oh that God would give every mother a vision of the glory and splendor of the work that is given to her when a babe is place in her bosom to be nursed and trained! Could she have but one glimpse in to the future of that life as it reaches on into eternity; could she look into it's soul to see its possibilities; could she be made to understand her own personal responsibility for the training of this child, for the development of its life, and for its destiny,--she would see that in all God's world there is no other work so noble and so worthy of her best powers, and she would commit to no others hands the sacred and holy trust given to her." -JR Miller

Wednesday in the Word

Ok I know I'm a day late!! But in my defense I have been fighting off a bad cold and dealing with poorly children this week - except my poorly children don't just lay and stay quiet, instead they display naughtiness and have difficulty in obeying! But that is for another post.

So Philippians 1:1-2

Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus, which are in Philippi with the bishops and deacons. Grace be unto you and peace from God our father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ!

And yes, most of that was from memory - my main tool for memorising - is to write it down, so I have started writing it in my payer journal - by the end of the year I should have all of Philippians handwritten out! Also I have another smaller notebook which I used to write out again, as for me that is the best way for it to sink in (which is obviously why I wrote it out in this post).

I think this is one of the hardest things to memorise as it's just greetings and if you're anything like me you tend to skim read them thinking they are not very important *blush* but writing it out I will tell you what struck me the most.

Paul and Timothy addressed all the christians as "saints" - yes dear friend if you have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ and accepted that you are a sinner and only Jesus death on a cross could pay the price you owe and you have asked for forgiveness then you are NO LONGER a sinner but now a SAINT!!

Yes you may have the capacity to sin but we can now CHOOSE to not sin - we will have many battles and I'm quite sure we won't win every one of them as we will have to deal with the sin nature within us until the day we die but we repent and it does not change the fact that we are SAINTS in Christ Jesus!

Thank you Jesus for suffering so that I could be a SAINT and no longer a SINNER.

what a wonderful thought! I had just glossed over that as a Biblical greeting, but it is so much more! thank-you! x
