Oh that God would give every mother a vision of the glory and splendor of the work that is given to her when a babe is place in her bosom to be nursed and trained! Could she have but one glimpse in to the future of that life as it reaches on into eternity; could she look into it's soul to see its possibilities; could she be made to understand her own personal responsibility for the training of this child, for the development of its life, and for its destiny,--she would see that in all God's world there is no other work so noble and so worthy of her best powers, and she would commit to no others hands the sacred and holy trust given to her." -JR Miller

My Fruity Hallway

Living in a house that leaks and is full of damp can be disheartening to say the least. I fully believe in learning contentment in all things and being thankful for a roof over our heads but the daily grind of coping with these challenges can be difficult, even though character building.

A couple of months ago while praying about our housing situation God gave me the best idea ever!!

It is our hallway that leaks the most - we have had to take any pictures off the wall and move most items to save them from water damage from future leaks! It can be a little depressing walking through the hallway (which we have to do many times as it leads to both the bathroom and the kitchen) and I was disappointed that I couldn't do anything to make it pretty - then God gave me this great idea - I could print some posters and laminate them - then when/if they get ruined I could just print out another copy! So what to print?

The fruit of the Spirit - I printed out the whole verse
Galations 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law

then I printed out the individual character traits and put them all on the wall - now as I enter the hallway and start to feel a little down - I read "self control" and remind myself that I have self control - I don't need to give in to my feelings and when I'm following the little ones into the bathroom AGAIN I read "long suffering" and "kindness" and remind myself that I can be kind even when I'm feeling frustrated at the constant training and caring of little ones.

All in all it has brightened our hallway and improved my character!! :-)
