A letter arrived this morning giving me a suggested date for my first informal meeting with the LEA, I have researched and apparantly the man coming is lovely so that is one good thing but I am soooo nervous - I was in the middle of cooking a bacon and mushroom breakfast when I opened the post (expecting it to be about library books or something lol) and it got me all flustered! Its stupid really as I know that we provide a good education, we have a range of curriculum and try to provide a good learning environment. but there is always that worry, especially when it's your first visit!
On the plus side it could be a good thing, it will make me get more organised, encourage children to work and when I get a good report (which I hope I will) it will be something to show to those who are against home schooling.
The thing that makes me most nervous is that we are quite relaxed - my eldest is only 8 and only this year have we started making some progress in reading - in fact this year they have all made a lot of progress, which does make me proud - I am a big believer in allowing children to be children and developing at their own paces which for my older 2 has been later and for my 4 yo is a little bit earlier! She loves learning.
I am thankful for the advice from a good friend (Deedee you're fab) and I started making a list of topics we have covered this year - wow it's probably so much more than any curriculum could ever cover in school - we may not have read oodles of books on all the subjects or done much busy work, but we have answered questions and helped the children get an understanding of different things.
Relationships/family trees and where babies come from have been a big subject this year - quite naturally as they have had a new baby sister and a new cousin. Also a we've grown potatoes and carrots and they've seen hedgehogs and done lots of crafts. I have prepared a slideshow of pics and now need to get some samples of work sorted!
The date is Mon 13th Dec, I will let you all knwo how it goes!

I shouldn't worry too much . one thing i did which may help in the future is take lots of pictures of your daily activities , baking, painting, walking in the woods, anything really its amazing how much we do that we don't realise we are doing until we look back , and it does serve as good evidence that you have a variety of activities.
you will be fine, Charlie xx
Will be praying for you all! Dont' worry. You will be fine! - Deedee
