Oh that God would give every mother a vision of the glory and splendor of the work that is given to her when a babe is place in her bosom to be nursed and trained! Could she have but one glimpse in to the future of that life as it reaches on into eternity; could she look into it's soul to see its possibilities; could she be made to understand her own personal responsibility for the training of this child, for the development of its life, and for its destiny,--she would see that in all God's world there is no other work so noble and so worthy of her best powers, and she would commit to no others hands the sacred and holy trust given to her." -JR Miller

JESSE TREE

Ok, so I tried making a Jesse Tree last year and didn't succeed very well, and I love the idea and concept of studying the ancestors of Jesus leading up to his birth, I've only discovered the "Jesse Tree" in the last couple of years and I do think it's a pity it's not more common in churches.
This year time got away from me, again and advent had started before I knew it, so I hadn't prepared anything, a friend lent me a book called The Jesse Tree which is a story book based on a carpenter telling the story while carving a Jesse Tree. It's ideal for the children though we're not exactly brilliant at being nice and quiet and listening to read alouds lol.
I also have a real blank when it comes to putting ideas from my head into practice, if that makes sense.
But I have come up with a great idea for this year that takes little planning and that is I've got the children to draw the symbols and we're just putting them on the wall - not on an actual tree but it's the same idea and we're also all going to do a mini version and have our individual Jesse Tree books with ornaments I've printed off the internet for them to colour in. I'm looking forward to seeing us actually finish it this year!!
