Oh that God would give every mother a vision of the glory and splendor of the work that is given to her when a babe is place in her bosom to be nursed and trained! Could she have but one glimpse in to the future of that life as it reaches on into eternity; could she look into it's soul to see its possibilities; could she be made to understand her own personal responsibility for the training of this child, for the development of its life, and for its destiny,--she would see that in all God's world there is no other work so noble and so worthy of her best powers, and she would commit to no others hands the sacred and holy trust given to her." -JR Miller

Pilgrims Progress

I've been reading a child's version of The Pilgrims Progress to the children at bedtime for the last couple of nights and they are enjoying it, it also made me think - so often we think the christian life should be easy, we think that God should just answer all our wants as well as needs and keep us "from" every trouble rather than keep us while we're "in" the trouble.
The truths is as Jesus so clearly tells us in the gospels that the way is narrow and the path often difficult but He promises that He will take care of us through it all and that is where we take our comfort. In the book "christian" is faced with many trials and fights but he's also given the armour needed to succeed, as are we :-

Ephesians 5
10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
With this in mind we should face life unafraid with our heads held high, especially as we undertake our daily jobs raising these wonderful children that God has blessed us with, remembering that no matter how hard it gets we are doing the most important job that God has for us and He will be with us through it all - the good times and the bad and He will grant us the wisdom we need to succeed.
