Oh that God would give every mother a vision of the glory and splendor of the work that is given to her when a babe is place in her bosom to be nursed and trained! Could she have but one glimpse in to the future of that life as it reaches on into eternity; could she look into it's soul to see its possibilities; could she be made to understand her own personal responsibility for the training of this child, for the development of its life, and for its destiny,--she would see that in all God's world there is no other work so noble and so worthy of her best powers, and she would commit to no others hands the sacred and holy trust given to her." -JR Miller

Topsy Turvy Days

One of the best parts of home educating my children is the flexibility - we had planned to school all through the summer but with my sister moving to Australia and my nephew who we'd not seen for a year or two coming to stay at my parents we ended up letting the children spend a lot of time down at their grandparents and enjoy their  cousins!
Then we planned on starting back this week and I had almost everything ready but then had a poorly older child (ulcer) and a baby who hadn't slept much all night and didn't want to be put down - I think she is teething so school has been put back - I was just going to start the next day but think it's going to be next week now as we are trying to get back on top of the clutter and I have a lot to do with organising the family retreat - it takes a lot more time than you would think especially with little ones needing attention quite often (even when someone else is around and helping you watch them) and although it is tempting to just brush them off - when they want you to dress a dolly or give a dolly a cuddle or just tell you something I try hard to remember that they are more important than whatever I am doing and they deserve my full attention!
I am determined though to get on with my scheduling soon and get some order back into my house - just hoping baby will co operate!!
