Oh that God would give every mother a vision of the glory and splendor of the work that is given to her when a babe is place in her bosom to be nursed and trained! Could she have but one glimpse in to the future of that life as it reaches on into eternity; could she look into it's soul to see its possibilities; could she be made to understand her own personal responsibility for the training of this child, for the development of its life, and for its destiny,--she would see that in all God's world there is no other work so noble and so worthy of her best powers, and she would commit to no others hands the sacred and holy trust given to her." -JR Miller

Unschooling Summer

As we are adopting the unschooling philosophy we see every opportunity as a learning experience and don't have "summer holidays" for example, so here are some pics of some of the learning opportunities the children have had over summer. :-)

We had jewellery making with a friend

Bethany decided to do a rainbow lapbook

We attended an illustration workshop by Lynn Chapman at the local library

Of course there were lots of trips to the park

And baking goodies, with friends staying over

Helping put the trailer tent up as we prepared for our camping holiday

We had a day trip to Hastings, we didn't get much time there but enough to know we'd love to go on holiday there

My sister gave us a lot of craft items which inspired a morning of creativity in the children

Rebekah wanted to do a Cream Soda Stand, that was good fun and a great opportunity to learn about cost and making money

Bethany made a card as a thnak you for her Auntie

We had fun with friends at Oak Farm Park

We played board games together

Bethany had some making perfume type kits which she loved to do

These are just some of the fun things we have done this summer, but I love how "everyday" life and things that don't come in text books etc can all be learning and helping our children to grow in wisdom and learning
